A mysterious website has appeared that promises a new Call of Duty reveal in March...

Although it's absolutely no surprise whatsoever that a new Call of Duty title is to be released this year, that hasn't stopped a website teaser appearing stating that the next game, apparently Modern Warfare 4, will be announced on March 21. However, the site is now widely believed to be fake.

The site, unexpectedreveal.com, shows a blurry image of what appears to be a Call of Duty title, with the familiar CoD font clearly showing an objective to escape, it then shows a countdown timer that indicates a March 21 reveal.

On closer inspection, the source code for the site is also filled with a slew of pointers to another CoD, including references to Call of Duty, Activision, Infinity Ward and March 21. There's also a rather blatant line that simply reads“Call of Duty - Worldwide reveal March 21.”

The Whois information also points to Infinity Ward, further solidifying the possibility of a new Modern Warfare CoD release. Or does it?

For what is supposed to be a mysterious teaser, there's a lot of information clearly shown for all to see, and, more importantly, Sam Kennedy, VP at Edelman Digital, which is working with Activision tweeted that the so-called teaser is fake. Sledgehammer Games, also named in the site's source code, additionally tweeted that the March reveal is a fabrication.

It should be noted, however, at the time of writing, the site itself now appears to be dead, showing only a white screen. Does this hint at a possible hurried take down, or is the site overloaded with too much traffic? Is this just someone trolling the gaming community?

Of course, there's always the chance that this is another viral marketing ploy created to generate hype, and such tactics are hardly unknown. But, with only six days to go until March 21, we don't have long to wait to see if it's legit or not.
