Starring magic belt buckles and a computer called TIM, who couldn’t love The Tomorrow People?
Writer-producers Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern, Arrow) and Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) certainly do, and the pair have finally succeeded in acquiring the US rights to the show from FremantleMedia and commissioned a pilot, to be written by Chuck’s Phil Klemmer.
Reviving The Tomorrow People, which dealt with a race of Heroes and X-Men-like super-evolved pacifist humans whose powers (telepathy, telekinesis and the like) would manifest in adolescence, is something of a ten-year cycle. The original programme ran on ITV from 1973 to 1979, before an early nineties reboot was produced, followed in 2001 by the first of five Big Finish audio series.
