It seems as over the past week or two, there's been a rush to rule out as many different names from directing Disney's newly-announced Star Wars: Episode VII as possible. The likes of Jon Favreau, Quentin Tarantino, JJ Abrams, Joss Whedon, Brett Ratner (just kidding) and more have been nattered about, with most of them ruling themselves out of the running.
MTV, though, caught up with producer Frank Marshall, who's married to new Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Does he know who's going to be calling the shots on Star Wars: Episode 7? "I do", he replied. "But I can't reveal it, or I won't be alive tomorrow".
He added that the hunt for the new Star Wars director has focussed in now on "a couple of candidates, but I don't know how soon that will be revealed".
Marshall also gave a quick update on the state of Indiana Jones 5, and whether Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm affects that. "I don't think it changes anything, it's still open", he told MTV. "But it's really on the back burner and we're not really talking about it. Star Wars is next, so that's what we're focusing on. Indy'is back there, but nothing has changed".
We're at the point now where we'd bet hard cash that we won't see an Indiana Jones 5 that stars Harrison Ford and is directed by Steven Spielberg. Not much hard cash, of course, but a little bit.
