Seeing as Fox has planned a July 2013 release date, James Mangold (Knight and Day, Cop Land) and co. need to get a wriggle on with filming The Wolverine, and according to its star, that’s exactly what they’re doing. When asked what the plan was for the X-Men spin-off on Twitter, Hugh Jackman responded “…starts shooting in August!!”
The reasons for the film’s delay are well-documented, with director Darren Aronofsky’s departure and the tragedy of last year’s earthquake in Japan (where the majority of the film is set) holding things up for The Wolverine. Now with Mangold in place, and Christopher McQuarrie’s script newly touched-up by Die Hard 4.0 writer Mark Bomback, things are good to go.
What can we expect from Jackman’s latest (and quite possibly last) feature film appearance as X-Men’s Logan? “…The ultimate, bad-ass, berserker rage Wolverine”, according to Fox CEO Tom Rothman. Blimey.
