As The Expendables 2 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK, off the back of a $300m run in worldwide cinemas, attention is slowly turning to the promised third instalment in the franchise.
The Expendables 3 has been all but confirmed already, with the likes of Nicolas Cage and Harrison Ford suggested in passing. But in terms of concrete casting news, it looks as though Jackie Chan is set to be joining in the fun next time around.
As reported at Cinema Online, Chan has revealed at a press conference that he had an invite to be in The Expendables 2, “but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn’t make a commitment to the film”.
Chan added that “He did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes”. Chan has clearly seen The Expendables 2, then.
Chan also added that he’s closing in a new film with Chris Tucker, which at the moment isn’t Rush Hour 4, but could be turned into a fourth entry in that franchise yet.
