We're firmly of the opinion that there aren't enough corkscrewed haired, windmill-dwelling, magician consultant detectives on television these days, and it seems Danny Cohen agrees with us. The BBC One Controller has commissioned a ninety-minute Jonathan Creek special, starring Alan Davies and Sheridan Smith, due to air on the channel next Easter.
Entitled The Clue of the Savant's Thumb and telling the story of supernatural events at a girls' boarding school, the special comes written by Jonathan Creek creator David Renwick, and will begin filming later this month.
Alan Davies had this to say on his character's return to the small screen: “The new story has more than the usual amount of twists and surprises, and I'm very much looking forward to sleuthing again. I can't wait to join Sheridan Smith on set again; we're very lucky to have her. It's nearly seventeen years since I first auditioned for the part; the duffle coat is always on standby, even if the periods of duffle-hibernation are quite long these days”.
Would anyone care to join us in letting out a woo and indeed a hoo?
