The co-writer of Wreck-It Ralph is now set to co-direct Disney's 53rd animated movie, Frozen.

Back when we put together our piece highlighting the 25 films we're really excited about in 2013, Disney's Frozen was right up the list. For long-time Disney nerds, Frozen is one of those projects that we figured we'd never get to see, given that it's the studio's long-awaited adaptation of The Snow Queen. It's fallen apart before, and so when it came back to life as Frozen a year or two back, we were really rather happy.

The film is going to be CG (which is the big visual difference over the last attempt to get it going, when it was set to be hand-drawn), and it's scheduled for release at the end of 2013. And Disney has now announced that a new director has joined the project, to work alongside existing helmer Chris Buck (Tarzan).

Hello, then, to Jennifer Lee, the co-writer of Wreck-It Ralph. She's also contributed to the screenplay for Frozen, and is now officially its co-director.

The film remains on track for a November 2013 release (in the US at least), and we'll be keeping you posted on it.
