Paranormal Activity 4’s box office returns suggested that this is one franchise that people may just be beginning to tire of. Notwithstanding the fact that the film, outside of a couple of decent jumps, seemed to have run out of interesting ideas, its worldwide take of $135m signalled a sizeable drop from the $207m its predecessor raked in.
Yet these films cost around $5m apiece to make, with marketing costs on top, and are amongst the most profitable pictures that Paramount Pictures releases. And thus it’s come as little surprise that Paranormal Activity 5 has now been 100% officially confirmed, and given a release date.
While it’s unclear as of yet whether Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost will return to direct for a third time, we do know that Paranormal Activity 5 will be released on October 25th 2013. Without giving anything away, if it picks up immediately after the fourth film, then it might just be a more interesting, and quite different, entry in the franchise. Here's hoping...
