Following the path set by, most recently, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, Paramount Pictures has announced that it will be releasing the first nine minutes of JJ Abrams’ eagerly-awaited Star Trek Into Darkness into cinemas in December. In the US, the preview will arrive on December 14th on IMAX 3D screens only, with 500 sites in America likely to get it. It looks as though it’ll play before screenings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
It's not just restricted to the US, though. The official Paramount Pictures press release also confirms that the preview will be “released exclusively in digital IMAX 3D theatres worldwide”. There are far fewer of those in Britain, of course, but when we have firmer details of where you can catch it, we’ll let you know.
We’d imagine, then, that the Star Trek Into Darkness trailer is likely to appear in December, too, although that’s guesswork on our part. More on the film as we hear it.
