Last week, we passed on the news that Guillermo del Toro has been discussing the possibility of tackling a super hero team up movie for Warner Brothers and DC. Itt wouldn't be the planned Justice League movie but rather a new property titled Heaven Sent that would see the likes of Swamp Thing and Hellblazer team up.
Now, del Toro has been talking about it a little. “I'm not involved in Justice League... I've been discussing with the fans and I have been very, very open about how Swamp Thing was the key when I was a kid.” He continued, saying “comics in Mexico came on the first two days of the week. Around Tuesday and Wednesday I would go to the news stand on my bicycle and I would get Swamp Thing every time it was available and I loved Jack Kirby's Demon. I love Constantine and all that. You know I've been pursuing doing something with them for many, many years. Hopefully it'll come to pass. But we are still discussing.”
In a separate interview the director indicated that he and screenwriter Travis Beacham are already discussing ideas for Pacific Rim 2:
“We certainly started tossing ideas for a possible sequel and Travis Beacham and I are writing a proposal of ideas, but at the same time I know I don't want to do that next. I want to do something else, I want to do something in a different genre that's not so big. So I don't know yet what it's gonna be, but I know next year I'm delivering Pacific Rim in July and then I'm doing – God willing – the voice shooting for Pinocchio and then the pilot for The Strain for FX.”
You've got to salute the man's work ethic. After significant time away, for a multitude of reasons, he looks set to make up for lost time which is most definitely a good thing by the sounds of the projects he's linked to.
