For the third time this year, Joss Whedon is preparing to unleash a film into the world. Both Cabin In The Woods and The Avengers have been hits of varying sizes, and he's shortly to premiere his black and white adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.
Talking to the New York Post about that, he got chatting about the handful of negative reviews that The Avengers received, which got to the point where Samuel L Jackson, on Twitter, suggested to one critic that he needed to get a new job.
"I went into a bubble when the film came out", said Whedon, "but do know that Sam Jackson got pretty huffy".
He continued, saying “I don’t think a flame war is going to help anybody. People are allowed to not like the film, but I do get annoyed when somebody really hasn’t done their homework. A lot of reporting in the negative reviews ... was more like they were reviewing the genre than the movie itself".
"It's far from a perfect film, but it struck a chord", he said.
More news on Much Ado About Nothing as we get it. We're looking forward to seeing it. After we've watched The Avengers again...
