Who will Kirk, Spock and the crew of the Enterprise be facing in the Star Trek sequel? The latest rumour is right here...
Depending on your viewpoint, you can either take the following with a pinch of salt, or peg it in the opposite direction, on the off-chance it turns out to be a spoiler. We’ll leave you to decide that right now.
Still here?
Right-o. We already know that Benicio Del Toro has been approached about playing a villain in the upcoming Star Trek sequel, which director JJ Abrams is set to start filming in January. But over at Think McFly Think, they’ve got some further words on what to expect in the film.
It cites its unnamed sources as first of all ruling out an appearance for the character of Khan, as had been suggested some months back (although never officially). It also looks like we’re going to be getting the Klingons in the film, as well as Tribbles.
To quote the site, “the angle, according to our sources, plays [the Klingons] up as a Nomadic sect of warrior aliens causing trouble for the Federation - think an intergalactic Taliban with their home-planet overrun by Tribbles. Yes, those Tribbles, here in the newly rebooted continuity viewed as ‘furry carnivorous creatures’.”
Make of all of that what you will. The Klingons sounds about right to us, but we have no insider knowledge that can corroborate that for you. So, as always, you’re best off not listening to us.
We’ll have more information on the Star Trek sequel as we get it.
