Mega Drive fans rejoice, as one of the platform’s cult classics is due to be resurrected on the PlayStation Network. ToeJam & Earl, the co-operative adventure starring two groovesome aliens from the planet Funkotron, is coming to PlayStation 3 owners.
Both the original adventure and the first sequel, ToeJam & Earl: Panic on Funkotron, are to be released as part of the Sega Vintage Collection. The first game in the series is a tricky exploration and collect-a-thon that takes place on randomly generated levels, meaning no two games are ever the same. As the eponymous aliens, one or two players have to collect parts of the duo’s crashed ship, whilst avoiding manic Earthlings on a bizarre, floating maze recreation of Earth.
The second game does away with the original game’s viewpoint and game mechanics, including the impressive co-op mode gameplay style, and is a more traditional side-scrolling platform adventure. It's a pretty good title, but many fans prefer the original game. And let’s not even mention the third game which was exclusive to the original Microsoft Xbox.
The two ToeJam & Earl games will be released on PSN this summer alongside the previously confirmed Nights Into Dreams and Jet Set Radio.
