Now here’s some really, really promising news. It’s been no secret that Fox has been looking to get a new Fantastic Four movie going, a reboot after the lukewarm pair of features that were helmed by Tim Story. And, earlier this year, Josh Trank was linked as a possible new director for the new film.
Trank is the man who helmed one of 2012’s most lovely surprises, the excellent Chronicle. Furthermore, it turns out that there was some fire to the smoke of these particular rumours, as Trank has indeed signed on the dotted line to direct the new Fantastic Four. This, friends, is excellent news.
In the Fox slate of comic book movies, its immediate priority is The Wolverine and X-Men: First Class 2. Don’t be surprised, then, to see a new Fantastic Four film – presumably with a brand new cast – in 2014 or 2015. More on the film as we get it.
