One of the many who didn’t exactly like the ending to Mass Effect 3? Next week may bring some closure…

It’s an almost unprecedented move, but BioWare is finally ready to address fans’ concerns over the heavily lambasted ending to Mass Effect 3, and June 26 will see the Extended Cut DLC arrive in North America, whilst it’ll hit Europe on July 4.

The new content, which BioWare is keen to point out won’t actually change the ending, but rather elaborate on it, will weigh in at around 1.9GB, so you can expect much more than a few throwaway cut scenes and cobbled together explanations.

“The Extended Cut is an expansion of the original endings to Mass Effect 3. It does not fundamentally change the endings, but rather it expands on the meaning of the original endings, and reveals greater detail on the impact of player decisions” says the official FAQ.

Thankfully, and in order to stop riots in the streets, the DLC will be totally free, and should answer many of the questions fans have regarding the various plot holes and oddities picked out of the original finale.

More info, including some spoilers regarding the save game you should use to get to the DLC can be found on the official FAQ (link below).

So, not long to go now until fans see the expanded ending, let’s just hope it lives up to the hype and expectations, or BioWare will have some rather tetchy punters on its hands.
