Tom Cruise is linked with a remake of The Magnificent Seven. We, of course, want Statham in there.

Another remake appears to be on the cards as MGM is recruiting Tom Cruise to head up a new version of The Magnificent Seven, which itself is of course a Western remake of The Seven Samurai. It’s still early stages for the project, as there isn’t a script, or indeed a screenwriter to pen the screenplay. Come to think of it, there's no director, either. But with Cruise attached you can’t imagine that things will take too long to fall into place.

It's unclear at the moment which role Cruise will play. If you want to hazard a guess, then you've got about a one in seven chance of being right.

Appreciating that The Magnificent Seven hardly needs remaking, you could have said the same of True Grit and 3:10 To Yuma, neither of which turned out badly.

The key here is getting a team of people together that can make this a great film. The potential for a great ensemble cast could lead to this being a huge draw for audiences. We’re sure there’s a place for Jason Statham in the cast as well. There certainly should be.
